Tater tots were invented in the 1950s by the Ore-Ida company as a way to use up leftover potato scraps. They quickly became a popular side dish and snack in American households. Kroger, one of the largest grocery store chains in the United States, offers their own version of tater tots called tater bites. These frozen tater bites are perfect for making in the air fryer, resulting in a crispy and delicious snack or appetizer.
