Crispy and Quick, Guilt-free Air Fried Salmon Burger

Salmon burgers have been a popular dish in the United States since the 1980s, when they were first introduced as a healthier alternative to traditional beef burgers. With the rise in popularity of air fryers, this recipe puts a modern twist on the classic salmon burger by cooking it in an air fryer instead of on a grill or stovetop.

A healthier twist on the classic burger, these air fried salmon burgers are packed with flavor and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground salmon

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs

  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped

  • 4 burger buns, toasted

  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayo or tartar sauce

Directions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground salmon, 1 beaten egg, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh dill.
  • Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  • Place the patties in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  • Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping the patties halfway through, until they are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Assemble the burgers on toasted buns with your choice of toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a spread of mayo or tartar sauce.
  • Serve and enjoy your delicious and healthy air fried salmon burgers!

Notes

  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also cook these burgers on a grill or stovetop.
  • Be sure to use ground salmon that is fresh and has not been previously frozen.
  • You can also add other seasonings or herbs to the burger mixture for added flavor.
