Eggo waffles were first introduced in 1953 by the Dorsa brothers in San Jose, California. Originally called ‘Froffles’, they were made with a special batter that allowed them to be frozen and reheated without becoming soggy. In 1955, they were renamed ‘Eggo’ and quickly became a popular breakfast option in households across America. The cinnamon toast flavor was added to the Eggo lineup in the 1980s, and has been a fan favorite ever since. With the rise in popularity of air fryers, people have discovered a new and easy way to enjoy their favorite frozen waffles.
